i-Cubed Executive Director Featured on Duke-Margolis Panel Discussion on Clinical Trial Innovation

i-Cubed Executive Director Michael (Micky) Cohen-Wolkowiez, MD, PhD joined a diverse group of speakers at the recent Duke-Margolis Institute for Health Policy workshop, Enhancing Adoption of Innovative Clinical Trial Approaches, to discuss how to best support clinical research innovations.

The workshop's primary goals were to identify key challenges hindering the adoption of clinical research innovations, share best practices and lessons learned, and explore pathways for moving from conceptual awareness to broader implementation. It brought together stakeholders from across the healthcare spectrum to discuss actionable steps for advancing the clinical trial ecosystem.

The event culminated in a panel discussion titled Future Directions on Clinical Trial Innovation, moderated by Kevin Bugin, Deputy Director of Operations at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), where Dr. Cohen-Wolkowiez provided forward-thinking perspectives on the future of clinical research.

Dr. Cohen-Wolkowiez prompted the audience to imagine a world where clinical research was seamlessly integrated into our daily lives, one where emerging technologies such as AI and quantum computing could revolutionize how trials are designed and conducted. He speculated that in 50 years, traditional participant-based trials could be largely supplanted by predictive models and data-driven approaches.

i-Cubed Featured on Dr. Mary E. Klotman’s Friday Message

Executive Director Michael (Micky) Cohen-Wolkowiez, MD, PhD, was recently featured on the Duke School of Medicine’s Friday Message series with Dean Mary E. Klotman, MD. There he introduced i-Cubed, a new center for clinical research innovation, powered by the Duke Clinical Research Institute

Dr. Cohen-Wolkowiez shared the driving motivation behind the center’s inception – that scientific discoveries often take too long to reach those who might benefit most from them. i-Cubed aims to bridge this gap by nurturing ideas that make clinical research faster, cheaper, and more inclusive.

In the interview, he also shared how i-Cubed empowers innovators to revolutionize the clinical trial landscape, his hopes for the future, as well as a sneak peak of current innovations in the i-Cubed pipeline.
