i-Cubed Executive Director Featured on Duke-Margolis Panel Discussion on Clinical Trial Innovation
i-Cubed Executive Director Michael (Micky) Cohen-Wolkowiez, MD, PhD joined a diverse group of speakers at the recent Duke-Margolis Institute for Health Policy workshop, Enhancing Adoption of Innovative Clinical Trial Approaches, to discuss how to best support clinical research innovations.
The workshop's primary goals were to identify key challenges hindering the adoption of clinical research innovations, share best practices and lessons learned, and explore pathways for moving from conceptual awareness to broader implementation. It brought together stakeholders from across the healthcare spectrum to discuss actionable steps for advancing the clinical trial ecosystem.
The event culminated in a panel discussion titled Future Directions on Clinical Trial Innovation, moderated by Kevin Bugin, Deputy Director of Operations at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), where Dr. Cohen-Wolkowiez provided forward-thinking perspectives on the future of clinical research.
Dr. Cohen-Wolkowiez prompted the audience to imagine a world where clinical research was seamlessly integrated into our daily lives, one where emerging technologies such as AI and quantum computing could revolutionize how trials are designed and conducted. He speculated that in 50 years, traditional participant-based trials could be largely supplanted by predictive models and data-driven approaches.
